Pharmacy-related language skills

You may enrol in vocation-related courses requiring at least level B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). Participants are in the process of having their professional qualification recognized and intend to take an examination to prove their professional language skills. They are immigrants with first languages other than German,

  • who have completed a course of study in human medicine, dentistry or pharmacy in their home country
  • have a certificate (not a certificate of attendance) of general or subject-specific German language proficiency at level B2
  • intend to work as a doctor, dentist or pharmacist
  • intend to apply to the respective state authorities for a license to practice medicine as part of the recognition of their profession.

Working in Bavaria

In addition to the information provided by the ABDA on the recognition of your pharmacy degree/other degrees (see above), here is some advice from the BLAK (Bayerische Landesapothekerkammer ↗︎):

  • If you are still living abroad, calling the hotline "Working and Living in Germany" is recommended (available in German/English): ✆ +49 30 1815-1111
  • If you already live in Bavaria, submit your application documents to the district government responsible for you. The government of Oberbayern is responsible if you are looking for a particular job in Oberbayern, Niederbayern, Schwaben and Oberpfalz. The government of Unterfranken takes care of the administrative districts of Ober-, Unter- and Mittelfranken.
  • If you are already proficient in German and you would like to receive a free consultation, the IQ Netzwerk Bayern ↗︎ offers information on:
    • your recognition options
    • how to prepare the application for recognition or assessment of certificates
    • follow-up to the application
    • alternatives and further advice

Meet the MEDICON team

PTA Jasmin

MEDICON is a large and modern pharmacy that always moves with the times. MEDICON is constantly developing, as demonstrated by its own brands and the online shop. In addition, many things are possible here. – Jasmin

All of our apprentices who qualify are offered an employment contract with pay above the standard rate. The wonderful thing about such a position is also how easy it is to balance work and family life. – Magdalena

I can only recommend to every student to do an internship at MEDICON pharmacy. You feel in good hands and valued at all times. I was able to learn a lot during this time and will certainly draw on this valuable experience for my future career. It's worth it! – David

Through advising customers, you get a good insight into all the contents of the internship year. I strongly recommend an internship at MEDICON. I would like to thank all my colleagues at MEDICON Erlangen for their support. It was a really great time with you! – Hend

I enjoyed my time at the MEDICON pharmacy very much, which was mainly due to the family-like atmosphere within the team. I quickly decided that working in a High Street pharmacy was just the right thing for me, which is why I am very happy to strengthen the team after receiving my license as a pharmacist. – Tizian
